Getting Startted

Record desktop screen and save to AVI file

1. Choose "Desktop" on Video Source window, and select "Capture Mouse" and "Capture Audio" if necessary.

2. Select default settings on Codec window.

3. Choose "Save to file" on Output window, and click "Browse" button to select saving path.

4.Click "Start" button to start recording. When it works, the "Status" in the record status window will turn to display "Recording", and the "File Size" will show the file size of the recording video.

5. Click "Stop" button when you want to stop recording.

6. You can click "Play" button in output window to watch the recorded video.

7. Since 2.3.5, you can start or stop desktop recording by Hot Key! Please refer to the game screen recording.

Record desktop screen and broadcast to network

1. The basic usage is same with recording to file, the only difference is to choose "Streaming" in Output window, and choose the IP address of the recording computer ( not the client's ), set the port of your streaming address in "Port" box.

Then you'll see the broadcast address in "Streaming Address" box.

2. You can then watch this video on another computer by Windows Media Player. Open the WMP and select "File"->"Open URL", enter the "Streaming Address", then you can play it.

At the same time, on the recording computer, you can see the viewers number on the status panel of LiveRecorder.

3. Since 2.3.5, you can saving to file while broadcasting, by choosing both "Save to file" and "Streaming" in Output tab.

Record game screen or window program

1. Choose "Game Program" or "Window Program" on Source window, then the "Start" button will be pushed automatically, it shows you can start game recording.

2. Start your game or program. When you need to record the screen or window, press the hot key (default is F12, you can change it by clicking "Hot Key" link) to start recording.

If it works, you'll see a red box on the top-left corner of your game screen or program window.

3. Press the hot key again when you want to stop recording, then you will see a blue box on the screen. And quit the game or program can also stop recording.

4. The output can be either file saving or network streaming.

Caution: if you choose network streaming, the clients can only connect to the recorder after you start recording.

5. When record for window program, the window size maybe very different from the preset video size, then you can choose "Scale Size" in Codec window, it will scale the window size to a video size according to the scaling factor.

6. Since 2.3.5, after stopping recording during game, you can restart recording by pressing hot key again, without restarting game or program, and the output file name will be a new name, by choosing "Auto File Name" in Output window.
